I talked to Capt. Chris today. I am glad to report
that this is a pure raffle. You don't pick a number
like our Randall Knife builds. Just send a check and
at the end the Captain or a moderator will draw a name.

The "Latest"

Everyone,
I must apologize for not being diligent posting up on this cause. I have been "on the road" and busy with "Crimson tide" on a totally non-related job. I have "not" been lapse in taking up the cause, however! I have been very busy in communications with folks about this raffle.
I spoke to Tom yesterday and Rhett today. I am glad to say that we are linked up on the RKS forum as well. Folks who wish to participate from that forum may do so, and there is a link to the information from "this" forum! Great news and a special thanks to Rhett and Tom should go out. It's good to see that a proper cause does not know limits...
As of today, Tuesday, we have doubled our amount to $250.00, with double again on the way!! That's just what I know about!! Keep up the good work!!....and again" Thanks to all!!
I also do not see why the moderators need sit this one out...Do any of ya? The more...the merrier!! I mean..Come on: They do not have access to any secret numbers?/!..,, Let's roll!! Best, Captain Chris Stanaback

Capt., definetly let the Moderators in. Only chance they may ever get to Win a Randall Knife, plus I am sure they would like to Step Up.

Let's exclude no one.

Capt. Chris, would it be a breach of etiquette to extend the time for the raffle?
I have some bud's in the middle east that want to participate but their donation/chance will not get to Florida in the time specified.

BTW, my 78 year old Dad is sending in a check for the raffle. He and I have enjoyed many meals and hoisted many mugs of cold amber brew at Kerby K's!

Tom,
You have to understand something here, but I am sure you can relate to this. Capt. is under a lot of pressure, with Hunting season just around the corner, so he probably set the 2 week deadline since he has so much to get done before he opens up his Camp.

Capt.,
Let's not make everyone Beg here. You are just going to have to give us a little more time we can really do something great here!!!

Extension

Good morning everyone. I just spoke with Captain Chris on the phone. He is on the road and asked that I make this post for him. Due to a number of requests to extend this raffle, the Captain is extending this until November 30.
Thanks,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne.

I just talked to Capt. Chris. He explained the reason for originally ending the raffle after two weeks was so the money would be put to the intended use before the case got cold (not to go hunting).
He extended it because there are folks wanting to donate that just recently heard about the raffle and want to participate or are too far away to get the money there by November 7 or 8. I am holding two checks that would not have gotten there on time otherwise.

I visited with Janet Bean, John's widow, yesterday. She is very grateful for what the Randall Knife community is doing to bring John's killer to justice.

This is the only photo of the interior of Herby K's I have. Standing behind the counter is Jimmy Jenkins. A lot of folks came to Kerby K's just to visit with Jimmy. He was a sports aficionado and could talk about any college or professional team with authority. I can date this photo cause it was in my "black & white" photography phase. Jimmy died of a heart attack about fifteen years ago. He and I were exactly the same age. I miss Jimmy too!

The counter stools plus two booths to the right and two booths to the left (out of the photo) make up the total seating at Herby K's. If you are with in 200 miles of Shreveport it would be worthwhile to go by for a visit and a meal.

Thanks for the photo Tom!

Herby K's looks like it's a very cozy little restaurant where time has stood still.

I wish we lived a little closer...

Cheers!

David

Update

Folks,
I have received $150.00 more to add to the fund! I am sorry that all of this caught me in "travel mode". A bit of bronchitis and a bad foot are making things a little slower this past week, but I hope this will change. Regardless: We will not falter in this endeaver. Keep 'em coming!! Best. Captain Chris Stanaback
