Any Knife makers in the southern Oregon area? I live near Shady Cove and would love to meet a mentor so to speak to learn from. Thanks

But nothing for California, I am a new knife maker starting in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
I am just getting started now, does anyone know of anybody in the area. Other than Todd Begg.

I am in Shreveport Louisiana. Dan Graves. Forge Damascus and blades. I teach on Sundays. Almost always a group of us in the shop and always a good time. Pay for your own materials and maybe a little for propane etc. I just cover my expenses as I believe in giving back to the community as many have helped my.

Newbie Knife Maker

Hello everyone,

My name is Tim, I live near Syracuse, NY and I am in the process of rebuilding two knives. I had a couple of knives, one hand made and one that was prefabbed and now I'm trying to make them more suitable to me. The pieces I do have are : 2 blades (one with an attached tang and one with a separate tang), and one handle, Unfortunately I am having trouble locating pieces that "fit". I have essentially no tools and no idea how to machine my own guards and such. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any knife makers in Onondaga county or nearby? Anyone interested in taking on a project? I am more interested in getting two functional knives than I am in really delving into knife making myself. Though I am excited at the thought of making these with my own 2 hands, it doesn't seem to be in the cards for me at this point in time. Any advice/assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,
Tim

Please edit the list. I registered on the forum today especially to request that change because I was looking for a knife maker in the Toronto area, found this topic and was going to call and visit George Tichbourne.

Though before calling his phone number I googled and found that he has passed away in 2010. It is very unfortunate, and sad.

If you know another knife maker in GTA, who is willing to share his knowledge, please let me know. And please edit the 1st message in this topic to let people know that they should not call George anymore.
