Chrome tan corrosion risk
I am thinking of making some carrying cases for iaito (unsharpened Japanese swords used for martial arts practice). I was considering using chrome tanned leather, but then I started thinking about corrosion risk. Now the iaito have wooden scabbards and the only metal parts that might make contact are the guard and butt cap, which are coated. What is the likely corrosion risk? I can instruct them not to store the swords in the bags, but I would still really hate to have someone come to me complaining that my bag corroded their iaito. One of the types of leather I am considering is deer-tanned cowhide-This is still chrome tanned right? I suppose I could also put in a cloth or acrylic fleece inner liner too.

I am aware of the corrosion risk for stuff that is in close contact with bare metal such as holsters, sheaths, etc., especially for extended periods. However, in this sort of case a softer grade of leather is often preferable. I suspect most of the commercially made cases I see on the internet appear to have been made from chrome tan leather. I am just trying to find out if the risk of corrosion in thsi case is great enough to be concerned with
