speed and power needed for beltdriven surface grinder?
I am in the works of planning my next homemade tool.. Surface grinder from old pantograph....it really seems to be able to come out very nice but I have no experience with surfacegrinding so I have no idea what size motor is needed or how fast it should run....

Jens, how are you planning on making a surface grinder from a pantograph milling machine? Isn't that alchemy!! Lead into gold?
If I were you, I'd buy a used surface grinder. They can be had for around 1000 Euro or less. You need accuracy of about 0.01mm or better for folders. __________________ www.wilkins-knives.com www.wilkins.de |

If I had 1000 Euro I WOULD by a used machine..
Actually the accuracy of the travel on the pantograf is approx the .01mm so it aint half bad... I will let you know how it works out....the idea came from the "How to make multiblade folders" where one of the makers used the base and ways of an old lathe..... Quote:
