Latest sheath
I thought I would post my latest sheath. This one is for a utility knife I made out of our last piece of BG-42 steel. Since I plan on keeping the knife and made it the way I wanted, I thought I would do the same thing to the sheath. It is 8-9oz with the hot oil/wax finish I like. Knife has a 6 inch blade with a really curved piece of stag that worked well with the sheath style that Sandy showed me how to make (and I have just gotten the hang of stitching without running off the edge). Hope you like it Sandy, for me, it's a keeper.

Harry I love it, both the knife and the sheath. Both of them have style. I can't speak for Sandy but I think you more than got the hang of it. I am sure he will chime in but in the mean time how about a couple more pics. Did you carry the pattern around to the back side of the sheath? Anyway great job, it is a sign of a true craftsman.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try to get a picture that shows the butt. Wade the pattern stops just around the bend. Wasn't much point in going further since the belt loop was going to cover much of the back side. I'll see if I can get a photo of the back too.

This is the picture of the butt of the knife. It is nickel sliver and shaped to conform to the stag handle.
This is the back side of the sheath. |

Very nice design, good job. That thing looks super stout with the double stitching and all.

Harry, the only I don't like about the hot wax finishis that it seems to dirty up quicklky with use. But I sure like the way you did this one, very classy rig

You are right Mike. That is one of the reasons I like it. It shows its history and still holds up. I started out liking that finish long before I started making sheaths and it has stuck with me over the years. It took me a while to figure out what the guys were doing to get the look I liked and they didn't want to talk much about it for some reason. I will use other finishes when the sheath calls for it, but the oil and wax finish has sold knives for me and I haven't found anything that I like more.
