Thumbs up New here

Been lurking a while here and othr places and decided this is the best site to go with. I like how you tell what you think and feel but yet do not rip someone up for all the mistakes or odd ways of making a knife. All you you seem like a nice bunch of guys and look forward to learning more about knife making. I have made several kit knives and repaired knifes off and on over the years and now my boys are wanting to get back into it and take it to the next leavel of knife making...

Keep up the great work!

Shawn...

Hi Shawn!

Welcome to KN! Yes, I agree that this forum tends to be a nicer place then most of the others . We don't take kindly to folks being "bashed", and will always do our best to help. We've all been at "the beginning" at some point, and most of use around here try to remember what it was like when we're answering questions or given "asked for" critiques. There's a wide array of knowledge here, and if one person can't answer a question, another certainly can.

Again, Welcome aboard and remember.....no question is too basic.....we all had to learn them somewhere along the way.

Ed, hello!
Yes, I'll say +1 to Shawn's comments about the KN folk.

Chris here, newbie also, gently gathering up the resources and knowledge to take the first dip, with a 12 year old boy in tow, so hand tools and safety definitely before everything else.

We're designing and making test patterns, etc., and will start posting as well when we're further along the process.

I've been looking around all the other sites, and this looks like the place to be for us too!

Cheers
Chris

Welcome Shawn! In addition to the forum related stuff Ed explained we also have a small get together on a chat board each Sunday afternoon. It's especially for the newest guys and a good chance to pick up things quickly. Right now, we're doing a KITH for the new guys and you should consider joining in if you can. You can read about it in the Anything Goes thread. The KITH will end on the last day of April ...
