Your Favorite Non-Knife Image of 2004
I'm betting most of us who frequent this forum enjoy taking pictures of more than just knives. So that the 'Favorite Knife Image of 2004' stays pure I figure we need a place to also post our favorite non-knife image from 2004. One image only, please. This is not a contest. It's just for fun and hopefully something we'll all enjoy.
Here's my favorite non-knife image from this past year. I like the dynamism of both the innocent kids and white birds in motion juxtaposed against the symbols of a world in conflict. There is irony in the fact that children are playing on a torpedo, yet they have no comprehension yet - of war, death and destruction. Last edited by Buddy Thomason; 01-07-2005 at 11:25 AM. |

Kids are always a good subject. Your combination of fun, colors, and the happening birds makes for a rare captured moment! Thanks. (PS, that's *some* playground...! )
Susan and I went into NYC for a Cirque-du-Soleil performance on Randall Island on the Harlem River. Walking out to the parking lot with the crowd I saw these elevated subway arches across the road. I ran over and underneath with my Canon 10D and happened to catch a pair of lovers walking away. I was back in my car in another minute. What a moment! Thanks Buddy! Coop |

How about a favorite for 2005 and the year is only three days old. You never know when you're going to get a shot. This was taken in my back yard this morning. The young button buck just couldn't let Daddy take his nap.

This shows the last direct rays of 2004 taken just before sundown New Years Eve coming out of some muddy deserts and mesas in western New Mexico.

One of my favourite places, we made it there again earlier this year, and this shot illustrates the point on lenses made in the other thread - 180MM, f2.8, 1/200th, hand held. Fuji Velvia.

I don't normally venture into the photography section (except to read and admire) but since we're talking non-knife pics, here's one I took with a cheap a$$ P&S digital (99 bucks!) from our cruise ship this past September.
Ah, memories... |

Great to see these favorite non-knife images! The up-tight guy who started this thread was full of it when he said, "One image only, please." Who does he think he is? I say we should post as many as we want!
This dog was comfortably "in the driver's seat", car doors locked, engine running and air conditioning on - waiting for his master to finish shopping at a Cabela's in WI. |

Here's one from the Navy Birthday Ball and the writing in the frame.
This table set for one is small - symbolizing the frailty of the prisoners alone against their oppressors. The table cloth is white - symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country's call to arms REMEMBER! The single rose displayed in a vase symbolizes the families and loved ones who keep the faith awaiting their return REMEMBER! The red ribbon tied so prominently on the vase is reminiscent of the red ribbon worn upon the lapel and breast of thousands who bear witness to their unyielding determination to demand a proper accounting of our missing REMEMBER! A slice of lemon is on the bread plate to remind us of their bitter fate REMEMBER! There is salt upon the bread plate symbolic of the familes tears as they wait REMEMBER! The glass is inverted they cannot toast with us this season REMEMBER! The chairs - The chairs are empty, they are not here REMEMBER! REMEMBER - All of you who served with them and called them comrades, who depended upon their might and aid and relied upon them, for surely they have not forgotten you ----REMEMBER! The small candle symbolizes a ray of hope in a darkened world. THEY WILL BE REMEMBERED! Jim |
