belt grinder

Hey folks, just wanted to show you my new belt grinder. Finished it last week and am very happy with it. I used wheels from Beaumont and the 10? contact wheel is from grizzly. The base is led filled for stability and the rig can be swung back against the wall when not it use. There is a great deal of adjustment for different belt sizes.

Let me know what ya think!

Rick

rick, very nice grinder. a few questions for you....
i have a grizzly 10" wheel and a few other spare parts that i plan on putting together to make something similar to what you have. as far as the contact wheel - did you just run a bolt/all-thread thru it with nuts on each side and use pillow blocks on the mounting arm? also, how did you balance the wheel. i noticed mine has some drill holes that i assume were used to balance it. how much lead do you have in the bottom? i am thinking of using some fairly rugged iron to make a "t" base and hoping that the steel itself will be enough weight for stability.

thanks and again, excellent looking grinder.

Hey Rick,

What is the bore diameter of the hole through the wheel, 3/4"?

Thanks,
-Mr Mike

The tracking is very good on this grinder. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised as to how well it worked out. Personally my favorite thing about this unit is the stand. Its solid but can be easily swung back against the wall out of the way. Or, it can be bolted down of coarse. I will also offer this grinder with a 2 hp 3450 rpm motor as an option.

Sure, the base unit complete with a 10? contact wheel, glass platen, slack belt assembly and a 1 hp 1730 rpm motor is $995.00 or $895 less the slack belt assembly. If you want a 1.5 hp 2500 rpm motor and speed controller the total package price is $1495.00. There are more pictures on my website.
