Manhattan Cutlery Co. knife
First time visitor to the Network.
I have a Manhattan Cutlery Co. knife with the word Germany underneath the "maker" stamp. On the opposite side of the blade is a tang stamp or logo of a full Indian figure. (See pictures.) Based upon my research, it appears that H. Boker purchased the Manhattan Cutlery trademark as a means to import knives into the US to avoid certain cutlery tariffs. Many of the Manhattan Cutlery knives were made by the John Newton Co. of Sheffield England. Such knives bear the word: Sheffield. My knife says Germany. The Indian logo is the key and I don't have access to a Goins Encyclopedia. Can anyone help to identify the knife's actual maker? |
