Question Question about laminated Abalone

I have found some laminated Abalone and I was wondering about using it as spacer material , since you would be exposing the sides instead of the front or back, if this was a good idea and if the lamination isn`t thick enough-- for the spacer size desired--could you epoxy two pieces together for the thickness wanted.
Thanks

I'm afraid that the edges of any laminated shell won't display the sort of color you might be hoping for. The edges need to be filled/sealed with superglue, and that detracts significantly from their ability to "show off."
