Why Liners?
I am in the process of making my first knife, actually it's a "His & Hers" pair and I am going to be using hard wood scales. Do I need to make liners as well? What are they for? What are they made of?
Thanks in anticipation. |

The liners most makers use are a vulcanized fiber material. They provide a contrasting stripe that can add interest to a knife. I know of some folks that use epoxy-soaked construction paper to provide a much thinner line.
They are by no means a necessity; simply a design option. |

Thanks Don
Being my first knife I have no preference one way or the other. perhaps later I will try a couple with liners.

I am not sure of the wood or blade material you are going to be using, but the liners may help to seal out water for you.
