Kevlar ain't all it's cracked up to be.
As I was faring down the hidden tang on this one, I caught it between the belt and worktable on my KMG. Instant stop from 800some rpms to stop. OUCH! 3 stitches . And yes it was sharpened. I had just finished the HT testing and was too lazy to take the edge off or tape it off.
Forged from Ford coil spring, curley maple haft finished with John Richards walnut oil finish.
Nickle silver furniture.
6 inch blade, 11 inches overall.
Thanks Ross for posting this.
Be careful out there guys. bruce

Great knife. This is somewhat scary though (about the gloves). I don't have a pair, but I know guys that do have them, and feel 100% protected.

That came out pretty dang good.

Is the medical bill figured into the price on this one?

Now I ain't laughing folks, not after sticking a knife in my leg, while I was rideing the lawnmower and playing Genghas Kahn on some tree limbs

Thanks Robert.
I showed the glove to a customer of mine who worked on the Kevlar project at Alcoa years ago. He was rather surprised by the cut. Said I'd been better off shootin' myself in the hand:-)
It was actually a downward impact that made the cut. Very fast and very powerful. Without the glove, I'd prolly been lookin on the floor for parts. bruce

Remember, it ain't really a blade until it's tasted blood.

The corollary being that they all become blades...

Glad your parts are still attached. That's one great-looking blade. Simple, well-executed, good lines, beautiful wood.

Make more! But don't test the next one so thoroughly.

Unfortunatley kevlar is really made to withstand impact and not cuts, it does provide some protection from cuts but as we can all see it can be cut through. BTW, a pair of tweezers and a pair of fingernail clippers will take care of gettin those stitches out and save ya a few bucks.

Darn nice lookin knife came out of it though, darn nice................
