Bob, thanks for the effort and all the fantastic information. If you ever decide to run for office, you can count on my vote.

P.S. are you planning on coming to the Blade Show?

Stabilizing

Bob,

I made a stabilizer from a pressure cooker and am using Minwax wood hardner for a medium. Any other suggestion for a medium to use?

I do not stabilize my own stuff YET

You might want to do a searh for Stabilize recipe or something similar and see what comes up. I know Geno does stabilizing and I think he uses brick sealer or something similar. If you don't find your answers in a search, go to "Tool Time" and repost your question there, Geno will get involved and answer your question as will several others I would bet.

Bearpaw,

Two other options are Nelsonite 30B02 and Resinol 90C. I sell Nelsonite as well as some pool cue places do too and the Resinol can be purchased directly from Loctite I think...

Bob, I've gone through your FAQ's several times over the past year. It's been a great help for me. Thanks for taking the time to do it. One thing I can't seem to find on your site is that neat conversion chart page with a gazillion items on it.

Yea, I took it down. The file was huge and I only got a couple comments on it and then it seemed mobody was using it. I was approaching my storage limit and decided to make some room. I will see if I can find it and if I do I will post it for a limited time so others can download it.

Bob, nice job on your FAQ section, and with regards to your part about e-mailing makers with your questions, I would like to thank David Broadwell for doing just that. I couldn't have met a nicer guy (online). He took the time to answer all of my questions in detail and in a timely manner. I'm new to building knives, and he gave some good advice.. He made my first project a lot easier. I owe him a couple of big ones.

Thanks for the info

Just a note to say I read your Newbie FAQ and appreciate the time and effort put into it. Also to let you know I tried to purchase the video on "how to make a hunter" from www.centercross.com and it is not available at this time. Any other DVD's or videos you would recomend?

If I were you I would e-mail Geno directly and ask about it. I believe he was going to put it on DVD but not sure.

I know that Johnny Stout has videos. I have not seen them but I know Johnny and I would bet they are first class. Look at Texas Knifemaker Supply for other books and videos. There are quite a few out there. Just pick the topic you are interested in. I have not heard anything negative about any of them.
