Patricia Primos hits the big time

When I checked the mail today there was a package for my wife Patricia from Knife World. I thought, "What the heck is this"?

I'm a real hard core guy about not opening some else's mail, so I just left it on the kitchen table. When Patricia got home from work, she opened the big envelope and it was a copy of Knife World inside.

I was still confused as to why they would be sending it to her. Anyway, I went on back to the office and started checking my emails, when I heard Patricia holler "My knife! It's my knife"!

On page 21 was a shot of Patricia's first knife in the "Artistry In Knives" section of Knife World. It is a rustic hammer textured hunter that she did in the Summer of 2005. The photo was taken by Chuck Ward at one of the monthly meetings at Al Lawrence's place (Uncle Al, the Knifemaker's pal) this past Summer.

Patricia actually did do another knife in the Summer of 2004, but never would claim it as her own because I helped her just a tiny little bit -- and I mean a very little bit. On the 2005 knife she would not even let me get near it.

On this knife she opted to do a rustic / tribal hammer textured knife like I do from time to time. I think I showed it on the forums back then , but here's the one:

I am so happy for her, and so proud of her that I just had to let everyone know.

Terry,

You're going to have to rent forge time to her, to keep her from taking over.

That is a beautiful knife.

Congrats Patricia, Keep Terry on his toes!

Congrats to her and the proud hubby! It's a beautiful knife and she deserves the attention for it!

Deffinetly has that 'Primos' look to it. Better sign her up here on the forums!

Well done!

Congratulations, Patricia!

This means Terry can retire, now, right?

Gary,
According to Patricia, if she were to ever accept orders, and take two orders, then she'd have about the same backlog as me -- since she only makes one knife per year.

By-the-way, Patricia really appreciates the kind words and support. As excited as she was, she simply could not understand how her first knife made it into the magazine, much less the "Artistry In Knives" section.

However, she is so stoked that she started on another one this weekend. This one will be a drop point hunter of her design. It's been forged, normalized, and annealed so far. It will be interesting to see what she comes up with. Patricia is a school teacher, and anyone who is married to a teacher knows that there's not much spare time.

Way to go Mrs. Primos! That's really cool...

Terry, I've been married to a school teacher for 21 years. She's a HS math teacher... and between school, all the work she brings home, and all her outside tutoring jobs, she barely has a moment to herself. Having said that, although she's very enthusiastic and supportive of my knifemaking, she rarely sets foot into my shop. I don't think she's ever touched any of my tools (in the shop that is ), least of all make a knife of her own.

I fully appreciate and understand the pride you must feel....You're a lucky fellow.
