Smile brass flats

I hate to shoot in the dark, but I got CRS and can't remember where I saw the post. An engraver, hopefully one of you fellas, mentioned having a plentiful supply of brass flat material and was willing to part with some. I would like to obtain a small amount to use for practice plates so I can practice on something softer than the steel I've been using. If you are in the crowd, shoot me an e-mail so I can get some. Thanks.

Goatwhiskers,

I don't know who had them on here but I did see a big lot of brass trophy plates on ebay night before last. When I saw them they were real cheap. If you could pick those up for a few bucks it would be a lot of good practice material for a few dollars.

Sorry I don't know the auction number. They had them labeled as "engraving plates"

Ray

Contact Scott Pilkington , as he responded to a previous thread, that he had lots of scrap brass from doing all of the doors in his house(?) with new kickplates. On that note: I just purchased a solid brass door kickplate, measuring 6" x 30" and approximately 1/16" thick, from Home Depot last weekend for $21.00. It will work just fine to do a practice plate for a subject I am working on.

Get some brass coin out of your wallet ,get rid of the pattern (use a sand paper) from the both sides.then you will get a little round brass plate ,after engrave , grind again ,remove the pattern you engraved .
