Smile To All Members Of The Knife Network Forum

I joind this forum 2 days after Christmas. And I have posted 2-3 Questions(9260 spring steel, Habaki making). and I am greatfull for answers thay all helped a great deal.

I have gone to people I have knowen for many years, Trying to get my knife and sword making off the ground. Asking questions and whatnot. and all I got was SNUFFED! It was like forging was some big secret. So I started on my own, and picked up alot of bad habbits and doing things the hard way.

As I read through the forums I'm finding that there are still good, unselfish people willing to give thier knowledge and expience without even a second thought! Special thanx to all that take the time from thier busy day to answer Questions for us that don't know.

Thanx for the smile guys and girls

Dave Boyd

Hi Dave and welcome.

The internet and the advent of forums has changed knifemaking and custom knives substantially. You are seeing firsthand why.

It's a bit of human nature to feel threatened giving good hard-learned information away. But the internet, with its not-in-your-backyard personalities, allows many to divulge these lessons. Somehow it's safer.

It is also human nature to wish to help someone.

Remember there is a human on the end of every keyboard. I know you do, that's why you posted.

Coop

Welcome Dave!

Ya know, I was just trying to remember how I stumbled on to the forums. ####ed if I can. It must have been a web search back when I was reading Boye's and Loveless's books. It just seems like I became a knifemaker and this was part of the deal. Kinda like cell phones and PCs..., what was life like without these things?

I only have the title page and graphic done I've been so busy with private commissions I have not had to finish it-currently I'm doing three commissioned reproduction medieval bishop mitres for the Angical Episcopal Church- once those are out of the way I'll see about doing something on my site.

I just finished setting up the basics on Blacksmith101's site www.rushknives.com.

Every one of us started with that first knife. Many shared with us, now we share with each other, that is how we pay our teachers, share with all commers.
Welcome to the forms!
