Looking for a supplier/individual

Last summer sometime an individual was offering 3/4" 52100 round bar on these forums. If I remember correctly he was from somewhere in the south.....I believe Florida. If anyone knows who that was, could you please help me out, I need to get in contact with him.

Thanks!

With some help, I figured out who it was that I was looking for. I had/have an issue with an order of steel that I purchased and have been trying to track down the individual. He has been found and from the looks of it, it appears to be another "Bulldog" situation.

Thanks for the help folks!

Yep, looks like a lot of us were taken for a ride... Very similar to the Rick Watson (wasn't that his name?) situation unfortunately...

Hey guys, you aren't referring to Tony, are you? I thought that he got this all taken care of... I know he's been sick as hell, too, and going through some incredibly rough times.

Yes, thats who I'm referring to. I'm not even going to hope that my situation every gets rectified. I purchased 40lbs of what was suppose to be 52100. After forging a couple of test blades out of the steel, and being unable to harden it, I sent several samples off for spectrographing......it came back as 8620. I would not even have mentioned the situation, but after asking repeatedly if he was SURE that the steel was 52100, and being assured each time that it was, (prior to purchasing), I wind up with 40lbs of useless material. My thought is that if he did it to me, he would do it to others, and I did not want anyone else to be taken as I was.

Ed, you're not standing alone. I ordred several batches off Tony. First was OK. Second wasn't .
Made up 8 blades of the second batch and nearly lost my mind trying to harden them. I contacted a MS I know and the first thing he said was :you sure it's 52100?" hehe Smart fella :-)

Well, I guess I ought to send someone a sample of what I got from Tony, then...

If his detail of the current and continuing circumstances of his life are, in fact, accurate, I'll overlook this and give him the 'get out of jail free' pass. He's got bigger troubles, and I'm unwilling to give him grief over $50 of steel, seeing as how after a long time he tried to make good on the deal. Still sorry to hear things weren't right for you, Ed. I haven't spoken to Tony since last summer, but he still sounded rough, and that was a year afterward.

...know anyone that won't break me in half to test some steel?
