stablized Osage Orange?

Is there anyone out there with stablized Osage orange?

Maybe I just answered my own question. I saw that desert ironwood is to dense to stablize perhaps Osage Orange is the same way and it isn't done.

MW - I think that you will find that Osage is one of those woods that doesn't normally need to be stabilized - finish it well with tung oil or Watco Danish and a coat or two of wax and it is good to go.

...but I do have some. It is not quite as lively as the unstabilized version in terms of the depth of its figure, but still very nice.

I have some osage orange that has been kiln dried and is four years old.....I would be glad to send you one to try.....it is 3/8 in. th..........x........1 1/2 in. ........x.......12 in. long..........whenever one of my kids order a knife thats the handle they want......carl combs...............

I have some Birchwood/Casey wood sealer/filler will this do a good job?

I aquired a great bit of osage a few months ago.

I think I have one piece of stablized osage orange left. I have a log in my garage that I need to cut up and have stablized. Weather you have to stablize it or not, I don't know. I just prefer to.

I have used it both ways and not found a great difference. If anything, I thought that the stabilized Osage was more prone to scorching as I ground it. Stabilizing does have a small amount of UV blocking however, which will help keep it yellow longer but eventually all of it will darken.
