Which freehand groover?
I need a freehand groover for for belt loop. Right now I am using a stitching groover and it's a pain.
Weaver leather has a only a Jeremiah Watt free hand groover for $40. Is there any other good quality groovers for less? BTW I returned my POS overstitch wheel and bought a Jeremiah Watt wheel. What a difference! Money well spend! |

Not trying to be a smart alec, but I think you just answered your own question
The price of good tools seems high to me too, but when I think that a) I don't have the tools or talent to make them myself, and b) the price of quality tools will be spread out over many years of potential use, the price is really very reasonable. BTW, I couldn't find the groover you mentioned on Weaver's site -- can you point me please? Saw off a 4" piece, grind one end to a chisel edge, do a simple heat treat on it with a cheap propane torch and polish the edge. Epoxy the blade into a handle. I haven't re-sharpened this one in over 20 years - __________________ Sheath dude Ontario Canada |

Mike,
Weaver Leather don't have it on their website. It's only in their printed catalog. You can get it here: http://www.ranch2arena.com/handstitchgroov.html |
