help with corby bolt
Ha all, any idea how I could finish off a corby bolt that I sanded down to much and now you can see where the threads start, you know that little circle in the middle of your pin, looks like on a finished handle, hoping some one can help. I would love to post a pic but I need to figure out how to downsize the image first.
Thank You, Carl

Just a thought, but what if I drilled a hole the size of the ring showing and just deep enough to fill with colored epoxy, I would do this to the other corby bolts as well so they all match.

Sounds like a better idea than drilling out the corbys and replacing with pins.

uuummmmm.... that sounds like one of those "bite the bullet" situations. not all mistakes are easy to fix situations.
carefully try to drill it out and replace it. then learn the lesson it has to teach. if you mess upon drilling it out, then you could end up having to replace the handle materials and corby rivets completely.

glad you could fix the issue. got pics?
next time pay attention to prefitting. shave the length of the corbys (inside parts) to fit the countersinking that you've done on the handle material. that way they will be well enough below the level youll be finishing the handle down to.

Damon is the man and we are always glad to help. I've done in a loveless or two back in the day. The old saying measure three times and cut once applies to corbys and loveless bolt installation, plus a few more to boot.
It pays to do a dry run on putting a knife together. That way you don't end up with a 6-7 minute assembly with 5 minute epoxy.
