Lightbulb Knife making training

I have been interested in knives all of my life from the time I was ten years old carrying a small switch blade while delivering papers in a pretty rough part of town. It just gave me confidence more than anything else.

What is a good place to start learning how to make knives? How did folks in this forum get started? Are there schools that teach this skill? What about seminars and their location? Are ther sites on the web listing this information? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the CKD. Where do you live? Training may be available in your area. If not you have to travel to it or learn from reading and asking questions.

Look at this thread http://www.ckdforums.com/showthread....threadid=20201 to see what Byron Witty made in 16 hours at my shop.

Additional information

I live in Albuquerque, NM. Finding a class/seminar or person near by that might be able to help get me started would be a great plus.

Imclaus,
I don't know of anyone that can provide training but there are some knife makers in your area if you search the internet. I am a few months in to my knife making journey and love it even though it is frustrating at times. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to send me an e-mail and I'll help the best I can. pitchnks@yahoo.com

Hello and welcome. You will find all kinds of info on these forums. You can use the blue search button, or go to the "How to" section and check out some good stuff there. The American Bladesmith Society has a school in Old Washington Arkansas and they have all kinds of classes.
Good luck!
Mace
