wow those are looking great!!! thickness wise if have found 5/32" or 3/16" to be the best size for medium size hunters/skinners. .250" is what I would use for a larg blade, anything with a 6" or longer blade would need a thicker steel. though I have made a 12" double ground fighter out of 3/16" and it turned out just fine.

Thanks man! I made a 12-3/4" chopper/kukri from 3/16" O1 and it seemed to be great! I don't know if I would want anything thicker then 1/8" for these little guys unless its a full flat grind. I just can't get a full flat grind down with the little belt sander I use. Anything further then 2/3 up the blade and it starts going convex on me. Plus just to grind half way up a small blade I'm using one belt up which costs me $3.50.

I think I was born with dirty hands lol. I work in an autobody shop my hands never have a chance to get stain free.

Thanks for the compliment man.

What is it that you're glueing the scales on with? The knives look great!

It's just the run of the mill epoxy from our hobby store. Another knife maker here did some tests with it and it holds really well. 30 min work time.

Did you mix any color with it? I really like the file work on that one, I'm going to have to try that.

I don't mix color with it, instead I use gun blueing to darken the file work. Before glueing I use some scotch brite to scuff up the blueing. Time will tell if the epoxy stays in there but I think it will.

Wouldn't the dark colored epoxy do the same thing as the gun blueing? Or does the epoxy just look dark in the pic, it's kinda hard to tell.

Dyed epoxy would do the same thing. I just haven't had much luck trying to dye it that's all.

In your pic is the epoxy clear? It looks dark.

It's clear. It probably looks dark because of the canvas micarta and the spine is sunk into the scales fairly deep.
