makers mark

how is the makers mark done like in Lucas Burnley's black and tan post? i dont think its an etch it looks more like an ink stamp on top of the blade instead of biting into the blade.

That's a stencil mark on those blades! That's how it looks when it's done correctly.....mine generally look like dog doo when I try to stencil a blade.....hence the reason I stamp most everything

so then the mark on those dont dig into the metal? i ask because i have a knife at home with a logo on it that doesnt dig into the metal and id like to do that to mine.

Hot Stamping a forged blade is the way to go in my opinion, and making your own touchmark is a plus, satisfaction, you did it and it's yours, it will stand out from etched and cold stamped blades.
