knifemakers vise
I need to locate a special knifemakers vise I saw in a shoptour in Knife Illustrated i believe. It was in Gibo?s shop. It was made of two large tubings, one smaller than the other, where the smaller one turned inside the other. There is a large handle for tightening it up. Works pretty much the same way as most knifemakers vises but this one clamped up in a reguler vise and seemed a bit larger than most. Any info on this? I will try to find the article and post a pic if this does not help. |

knifemakers vise
I saw the article and it was very good. I made one out of a piece of 4in. sq. tubing and put in 2 hockeys pucks to hold the blade. One puck is glued to the bottom and other is left loose. I put a bolt in the rear so that i could rotate it. this isn't very detailed, but it works great...I put an eye bolt in one side and glued a piece off steel to the puck. Carl |

Thanks for the info. The one at Al?s place looks similar. however in the meantime I found out that one of my knifemaking buddys makes them right here in DK. Not the same kind but at a very good price(20$) so I got one this Friday and it?s good. |
