Howdy Moon-
Thanks for the compliments on the DVD and glad it was helpful. Now to latigo and vegtan latigo: this leather is made using various methods dependent on the tannery - some are chrome tanned (no good for knives) and other s, such as Herman Oak are veg tanned (confusing eh?) - what all latigos have in common is that they are then heavily fat stuffed for use as mainly harness/saddlery leather (saddlery it's used for tie strings, cinch straps, etc not generally for the saddle itself)or other uses where heavy out door use is required such as lineman's belts. Because of this heavy stuffing they can't be tooled or molded. veg tan: as noted above some latigo is in fact veg tanned but in general veg (or bark) tanned leather is what is used for making sheaths, holsters, etc. Take a look at the sticky here on this forum about types of leather for more info. __________________ Chuck Burrows Hand Crafted Leather & Frontier Knives dba Wild Rose Trading Co Durango, CO chuck@wrtcleather.com www.wrtcleather.com The beautiful sheaths created for storing the knife elevate the knife one step higher.
