Ok.., looks like I'm gonna have to get out the "Samson-Cam" this weekend....lol I have only photographed a few of my Balisongs Jody profiled.., but I do have a couple laying around here...

This is a good one to start out with. As far as Jody knows.., it's the first Balisong ever made with Ti-Handles, but was not a Bali-Song USA, or PCC produced product, and sold directly from "Samson Custom Knives" to a guy named Nolan Fukawa, who was an FFL dealer at all the Great Western Shows many years back.

Jody actually profiled the blade at the end of 1982 (Steve Schwartzer Damascus).., but a man named Gene Ostrand who was a machinist at the Hughes Aircraft plant in the South Bay area milled the handles. The knife was completed and purchased in early 1983 by Mr. Fukawa, and he wanted a profile more like the original "Samson Custom Knives" Wee Hawk (which is a fixed blade boot knife), and not the one later remade by Les at Pacific Cuterly Corporation ~~> like the ones you see on eBay with a bolster.

It's latchless, and obviously a nice chunk of American Balisong history like that beauty of Dudley's above. By the way.., Jody considers that 4" Wee Hawk of Dudley's one of the best (5) of that length he ever profiled. I believe it was 1991??? Correct me if I'm wrong Dudely.

Here's a couple of shots of this knife with Jody's (1) and only catalog he had printed in 1977, for the business year of 1978.

Sure would have been fun to watch Mr. Ostrand take a crack at milling these handles way back then. My guess would be that a significant pile of cutters bit the dust, and the original owner said it took him three tries to get a set that worked. Jody can't verify that story, because he didn't even know Mr. Ostrand. Dan Fitzgerald, who was the photographer for PCC for a number of years, found Mr. Ostrand, and was the intermediary on the project.

Here is a shot of a 31s that I heat ano-ed and did a kind of crappy job, but I guess it was a decent first attempt. Just pretty sick from breathing in the fumes when doing it too,

I might polish it off and try again...

Here's one from the VERY beginning of Bali-Song, USA. It was one of a very few Prototypes done by Victor Anselmo in the later months of 1978 before Bali-Song, USA actually opened.

There is only (1) official Prototype (also done by Vic), and it was a 4" Utility type profile with square brass stock handles and the old rag micarta cream colored inserts. I actually held that knife a long time ago.., but bought this one from Vic because I had never owned a knife with Elephant Ivory inserts. This is a 3" Tanto.., flat ground.., and the profile SUCKS (in my opinion)...lol. Nice piece of history though.

I'll try to get better pictures of this at some point. Les and Roberta want some good ones, so I may not be the right guy behind the camera....lol. The "Prop" is an 01 Tool Steel Dagger made in the "Cooper Method" (by Jody).., in 1972.
