Something a little different.....

It goes without saying that I'm no expert by any means and this work shows it! This is where I wish I had access to the ol' DRO Bridgeport at the technical school and their DRO lathe......

As you can see, my work wasn't perfectly level when I drilled my holes..........but I tried. It's hard to see in these pics but I used brass in the center, gun-blued steel in the middle ones and bronze on the ends. They will take on their own patinas over time and I thought it would be a nice touch without going the inlay route.......plus this was cheaper!

The next step is to get all the handles done, spend all the time it takes to really get it the way I want it and then I'll take some more pictures.....

EDITED:To change the picture. I found a jug of BC Brass Black I had on the shelf and 'antiqued' the bronze inlays so they would show up better........

By the way....... The materials for those 'inlays' were given to me at the local welding supply store because they only sell the cut length rod by the pound. Since I only needed one of each, and that will last the rest of my natural life one slice at a time, it was free!!!!!!!

That looks cool, man! I've been thinking about something similar myself. Only I have no faith in myself - I'll probably never even try.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished photos! Definately something a little different!

That is an excellent idea. I really like your filework. You've motivated me!

ixpfah ......

Why not try something on a cheap bali that you don't care about? You can only build your self confidence by trying, and all you can really lose is your time.
