Attention: Kansas knifemakers
I just wanted to alert any more interested parties that the yet-to-be-named Kansas knifemaker's association is having it's first meeting on July 26 in Emporia, Kansas. Here are the details pasted from my invitation:
Kansas Knifemaker?s Association Meeting The Kansas Knifemaker?s Association will hold its first meeting at 1pm on July 26th 2008, in the Bluestem Room of the Rodeway Inn & Suites in Emporia, Kansas. In order to make travel time and expenses fair to all, we have selected Emporia for the site of this meeting as it is central to the locations of the current members. We are hoping for as many of the members of the association to attend as possible to discuss the future of the organization. If you are unable to attend the meeting, PLEASE contact Steve Culver or Dan Dick to let us know your thoughts on the association. We want the Kansas Knifemaker?s Association to meet the needs of as many of the members as possible. Therefore, your input is vital to creating an organization that serves your interest in knifemaking and that you will be proud to be a member of. Please feel free to bring examples of your work! It will be interesting and informative to see what style of work each of the members does. We currently have 24 confirmed members in the association. All interested persons are welcome to attend the meeting and/or join the group. Below is a tentative agenda for the meeting. 1. What do we want to call ourselves? 2. What does everyone expect of the association? 3. Discussion on shop tours: What are they and how often? 4. Communication methods between members? 5. Thoughts on holding a knife show? 6. How formalized do we want to be? a. Do we want to be a non-profit corporation? b. Do we want a web site? 7. Dues to pay for association expenses? 8. Selection of persons to carry on initial start-up needs of the association. a. Ask for volunteers? b. Appoint? c. Nominate and vote? 9. Other points of discussion.
