Yep! I know I want it to look like it's supposed to... Photos for the website will be proper color for sure.

But I still like the hue!

Better mark that knife as un-heattreated. If you get as busy as you intend it could easily find it's way into the ready to sell box. If it did and wound up in the hands of someone that uses knives, your rep would flushable in short order. The internet has a "no mercy" virus.

Good luck on your endeavors.

Yeah actually that's actually spectacular work for a third knife. I asked because that looks nothing like a third knife.

All I can say is sincere thank you! I'm very pleased with it. I'll' admit that I also cheated on the finger guard... did not pin it, just epoxy as I knew it wouldn't see service.

Got 1084 ordered from NJ Steel this morn. Had him check on the 1.5"X.125" as I've seen times with many companies that the page may not always be accurate. Was the case here, so I have sizes coming and some 1080 too.

Should keep me busy for a while.

Just got steel in from Aldo... went for an assortment of widths. 1084. I'll work one and send it to one of ya'll for an opine. At this point, need all the constructive criticism I can take.Should be able to harden these myself, so I'll build one just for the road and ship it to....Ray? You interested? Play Dr. Destructo, critique esthetics and finish, test (he winches) thoroughly? I need to know!

Have another order of 1084 on the way and the one of 1080 that hasn't shown yet.

If I'm at all on the right page, either of these will give a nice blade with 1084 having a lightly better Rc, but even final Rc can be influenced by temper. So, I'm gonna do my best on this and send a finished knife to it's demise.
I wanna know how far it bent, how hard it was. ( of course I'll edge retention test here but you can include that!)

Will start new thread pertinent to eval.

If you will look at the Sticky thread called KITH Preparation Class you will find a simple blade design that I use for evaluating the HT of new blade makers. The pattern is ugly but effective for what I need. Follow the instructions in that thread and I will test that blade for you. You might also read the thread next to it called BEFORE You Heat Treat Your First Knife.

My advice would be to do this simple stuff first before you make a finished knife for anyone else to field test .....

Will heed that advice Ray and thanks!

BTW, the steel I have in right now is Aldos 1084. Is that acceptable or should other arrangements be made?
