Hi Dave,
Sorry that motor didn't work out. I think (?) deker was saying that the AC Tech model needed, or benefited from the add on outdoor box because it's a nema 1 (open) style enclosure. That KB model is a nema 4 enclosure, supposedly the preferable well sealed enclosure. Don't know what the internal electronic differences are. Good luck, Craig |

If I get one of those AC Tech units or the KB elec. unit. Do I have to buy a 3 ph motor ? or can I do it with a 1 ph motor ? Also Do I have to get a 220 motor or can I get a 110 ?
I now have some money and dont really want to spend the 750 BMW offers its unit for but I want to come close to the same setup. I want to spend 500ish. thanks Dave |

OK I found just about the same motor BMW uses but its a 145TC mount. Can I weld some type of frame to the bottom to mount it from the bottom ?
thanks Dave |

If you are referring to the difference beween the KBAC-27D and the KBAC-29, it is the type of input power it can use, and the maximum size motor it can drive. The 27D accepts 115VAC or 230 VAC 1 Phase for up to 1.5 HP motor, and 230 VAC 1 phase for up to 2 HP motor. The 29 accepts only 230 VAC, but 1 phase or 3 phase input power, and it can drive up to 3 HP motor. The motor for both these controllers needs to be 3 phase 230V AC. It cannot be 1 phase. One should keep in mind the value of one's own time when choosing between a proven and well-supported solution such as that recommended by the KMG's maker and something else that might save you a few bucks but require more mucking about to get right. My mucking about is educating me and at the same time saving me $350. I will have built an equal setup for $390 instead of $740. Im not an attorney so my time is cheap
thanks for the help Dave |
