New Tappers Are Ready!
Finally as-promised, I have a batch of the new tappers ready. In spite of loads of production obstacles in my path, I have managed to make a batch of 20 tappers that will handle any tap from 6-40 all the way down to 00-90!
I am offering a rock-solid tapper built to last for many years. It is smooth and precise. The frame and base are made of 6061 billet aluminum, milled in my shop. The vertical bore holds sintered-bronze bushings, which allow for a smooth feel when tapping fine threads. Any of you who have suffered from broken taps and crooked threads will appreciate the absolute perpendicular alignment you will get from this tapper. The back end. I find that the tapper is solid-enough to use while freestanding, but you could drill a couple holes in the base plate to facilitate bench mounting. The business end, holding an 0-80 tap (not included). The shaft is made from precision-ground 300 Stainless drill rod. The set-screw holds any tap firmly. The knurled knob makes for a very precise and comfortable feel when making tiny threads. The setscrew in the knob is also the height adjustment, and sets upon a milled-flat on the shaft for a firm grip, and repeatable height adjustments. EDIT: The first run of tappers are completely sold out! Prices for the tappers will be $75 plus shipping. Another batch of tappers are being made now, and will be ready in a week. Please contact me via email for with your zipcode for payment and shipping options. Thank you Last edited by Jeff Higgins; 05-25-2005 at 09:00 AM. |

Very cool.
BTW - your link on your banner is dead. Thought you'd want to know. |

Jeff hasn't been involved in making knives in the last couple of years and has moved on to other interests. He hasn't logged on to KNET since Dec2006.
