3HP motors, etc.

Ed,

I am just wondering about the catalog number of the motor you picked up--CD7503 perhaps? Also, what sort of controller do you need to run a motor this big? Finally, are you happy with the set-up and how does it compare to your last one?

Thanks,

John

John, the one I got from Ed was a CD6203. I assume it's the same one Ed has from the pics he put up on his site, though mine's blue not grey.

I haven't gotten around to doing anything with mine yet (except tripping over it), so I can't answer the controller question for you.

If it runs half as good as it looks (looks like it'll drive a tank) it should run really smoothly, especially since it weighs something like 135 pounds.

hth

thanks

Thanks. Was the motor new? And how much did you pay for it?

I have a line on a new in box for $150. The motor I mentioned above is also 3 HP and 1,750 rpm, but it weighs 160 pounds and is a bit more expensive, at least on the Baldor website.

When and what will you be using yours for?

John

If you can get a new-in-box for that price you really should nail it.

Mine looks like a refurb, or at least has been tested/cleaned up. It was $385 with the shipping.

Mine is a 1750 as well, and I plan to eventually hook it up to a KMG-1, as well as a few other things. Unfortunately it's on the bottom of a loooooong list of things to do. Isn't that always the case?
