203 E steel

Does anybody have any info on this steel? My Uncle used it and 1095 to make his damascus with and I got some from my Aunt after he passed away. I need to get the info on HT and all. I am going to assume it will treat like 1095. Thanks, Mike Sader

Mike,
Don't worry about trying to heat treat 203E, it's nothing more than a nickel/iron that is mainly used in sea going pressure vessels. There are a few other elements in there, but treat it as you would 1010 or 1018. This stuff will not harden.

Ed , Thanks for the info, Max made some damascus with it but I also have some pieces seperate ,guess it would be kind of like Nickle Silver huh?I haven't etched what he made yet but if it has a good contrast I'll just use it for bolsters & guards. Thanks again, Mike Sader
