Indonesian Credit Card Scam, Help Please

Hey Guys...

When advice is needed I come to the Experts...

Got a fellow wanting to make a rather large CC purchase from Indonesia, on some Leatherman Waves...

Have heard of an Indonesian scam before,, but need more info..

How to protect myself from a possible scam..
Would Paypal be a safe way to go, or Cashiers check ??

Any info would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

Eric...

From what I understand, the only way to be safe is to stay far, far away.

Bob Warner has a habit of getting the CC#'s and letting the banking institution know that the numbers have been stolen, however. That's probably a good thing to do. It won't stop the emails, but it might help someone who doesn't know that their card's been swiped.

Eric tell tham you want payment via an International money order (Americna Express for instance) or payment via Western Union ONLY. If they respond OK - I highly doubt it, but one never knows for sure then you should be safe.
I get about one or two of these a month and so far no go after I tell them no CC - and I'm still waiting on the $23 mil from Nigeria

So, you have an "Uncle **** Fitzgerald" who died in Nigeria, too? hehe

Two days ago, I got two emails informing me of the death-benefits of a deceased Fitzgerald relative in Africa. Same circumstances of death, but two different names.

Got a kick outta that one...

NO FRIGGEN WAY

Hi Normark,

Do not take any form of payment, it is a scam.

You will find this out when you ask for an alternate form of payment in the form of a wire transfer, Money Order, etc.

The safest way is a wire transfer...have them send their information first. Then check it with your bank.

Remember, even if a bank tells you the Money Order is good. If it is not, they immediately take the money out of your account.

A bank can give you an authorization code on a credit card. If it turns out the Bank was wrong....they will immediately take the money out of your account and charge you a fee for a bounced transaction.

Banks and Merchant service organizations are mostly there to help you.

When in doubt decline the sale. You will be ahead in the long run.

Well it seems that I have several long lost dead relatives, "friends" in high places such as ousted presidents, etc in Ghana, Nigeria, The Sudan, South Africa (a princess of the Zulu tribe IIRC) who have either left me money in their will or need a place to stash their ill gotten gains.

There seems to be a lot of these going on recently. If they don't specify a certain knife or are after a very large quanity then probably it's bogus.

I disagree with using the delete button. All your doing, is allowing those scumbags a chance to find someone else that does know what is going on.

Last week, >>>I<<< scammed one of those A$$holes to give me a total of 6 credit card numbers. I kept telling the person that those cards must be over limit and asked, do you have any other cards?

Then I called the appropriate banks and they cancelled those numbers. I sure that those card numbers are fairly expensive for them to purchase. If enough of us would take to the time to do this, maybe, they would leave us along. Yeah, Right!

This fellow sent me an e-mail also saying he wanted to buy 100 leatherman. But the problem is that I don't sell leatherman. And I don't sell to Indonesia period. But I do have several legit collectors in Taiwan. I am shipping a tactical out on Monday to one.
Stay away
Dusty

Hey A.T.
That was a week or so ago. It went in the trash. I just don't have enough time at all, to mess with them. I am still working today (Sunday) taking knife photo's & working on them in Adobe for my web page. I will probably work for a couple more hours then take this afternoon off. Six & seven day work weeks don't give much time for harrasing lowlifes. Actually I was up loading a photo & decided to take a quick look through the Custom Knife forum & saw the post so decided to comment.
Dusty
