Steel Composition Chart & Knifemaking Links

Here's a handy steel composition chart on US knifemaking steels from Russia. This is one time we can reap a benefit from their spying. Scroll down. There are other good links at the bottom of the page. Check this out! Good reference.

Re: Steel Composition Chart

Hey! Look at the third link under related links on his site. It's a link to my steel composition chart -- cool!

By the way, my chart is also in the CKD Reference and Tutorial section. There's 50+ steels listed there, and I plan to add more soon.

Thanks for all the info.
Anyone know where I could get a list of melting temps for different metals?

Re: Steel Composition Chart

Geno,
I've got info like that too at home. I'm at work right now. Are you primarily interested in non-ferrous metals and such as that?

Re: Steel Composition Chart

There is a section on the melting temps of non-ferrous metals on this Mokume page. Hope it helps.

Re: Steel Composition Chart

Terry,
Yes and no. Non-ferrous is my immeadiate need, but would like all the info I can get on where each metal breaks down.
Metallurgy is my hobby.
Metal mixing is fun, but lost a lot of my info over the years.
I thank both you and Dana for all you're help.
