Newest Folder
I have been trying to work on a few more folders lately. This one is fresh out of the shop.
The blade is actually a scrap of ATS-34 I was going to throw out. But I decided to see what I could make out of it. 2 1/2" blade, 416 s/s bolsters, mammoth ivory bark scales with heat colored s/s liners. What do y'all think? __________________ Eph 6:17.......the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God: |

Beautiful work - everything comes together - scales are gorgeous. You may not remember but you gave away a neck knife about 11/2 yrs. ago - went to my daughter in Saudi w/Enduring Freedom - she absolutely loved the knife and carried it daily over there & still does - just wanted to say she really appreciated it and she wanted me to send you her thanks.

Did you use a stop pin or does it have a full backbar?

I have been using a stop pin, but I went with a full back bar of antique paper micarta on this one to compliment the ivory.
Thanks for the comments and I am glad the neck knife is still in use! __________________ Eph 6:17.......the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God: |

Is micarta strong enough to use as a backbar?

Well, I think so. I have seen some G10 and carbon fiber used on some rather high end knives. That's what precipitated me looking into it further. In torqing and twisting previous blades I could not get a failure nor could I get the body to loosen up.
The blade thickness on this knife is 3/16" which also helps. On a thinner blade I would be inclined to stick to steel. __________________ Eph 6:17.......the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God: |

Doug, Didn't realize you were doing folders. Good looking knife and a even better way to use up the scrap.
