Hi Guys Here are 4 knives that are in progress. I still have some grinding, beadblasting and polishing to go but here they are. What do you think??? MoblMec |

Build looks good so far. Test those handle designs and see if they work as good as the look - that's the only opinion that matters ....

Interesting designs. The second one should really appeal to The Walking Dead fans. Seriously though, it looks like good work.

The second one is my take on a bushcraft knife . It has a saw back a wirebreaker notch a flat front clip for betoning and a draw knife cut out with a chisel grind. I figure that a bushcraft knife should be a multi tool.

I have a question about that second knife.
I'm seeing that (to me) strange bevel/notch/thing on the blade more and more. Now, I understand that it's from some movie, but I'm really trying to understand what purpose it serves? It seems to me it sacrifices a good size section of your cutting area, as well as looking like a royal pain to grind in. Can someone explain it to me? |

Yeah, I'm sure it is an effective design, and I don't think it looks bad either. It just kind of struck me as something certain people would be drawn to the look of. Those grinds certainly aren't something I would want to attempt anytime soon. Thanks for sharing.

The cut out is a draw knife it is only sharpend from one side and it is for debarking sticks or flatening a stick to make a bow or such things . You use by holding the knife in both hands and drawing it to you while working. JawJacker I don't have the knife with me I am at work but I am pretty sure it was 16" long and 2" wide and 1/4 thick. Cbsmith The grinds arn't to hard The edge is a slack belt convex grind and the draw knife cut out is done with my 3/4 wheel. Realy it's not to hard. Oh Yea it is for sale!!! Thanks MoblMec |
