2nd on Chuck's dvd, he keeps it simple. Paul Long has some good ones out as well for the more advanced work.

I have to second the recommendation of Paul Long. His basic sheath making video is outstanding. I am not mechanically inclined but his video taught me to build a beautiful and functional sheath. I highly recommend it.

Yes, Carl, I'll be seeing you at Blade again this year..... too much fun to pass up!
Third DVD is a little bit shorter and costs less and it deals with various and sundry tips to make leather life easier, and answers some questions from makers as a result of viewing the first two. Titled "Tips From the Master" Chris named it, not me. Both Chuck Burrows and Paul Long made great DVDs. I highly recommend both of them. You will never regret the money spent. Seriously.

I'd agree with Texas Jack and get both Paul's and mine since we differ a bit in our approach and mine is aimed a bit more at the hand sewer (I don't even own a stitcher, but then these days I only do historic pre-1900 leather work)
Mine can be purchased direct from out hosts of this forum via their on line store http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/produc...roducts_id=715 __________________ Chuck Burrows Hand Crafted Leather & Frontier Knives dba Wild Rose Trading Co Durango, CO chuck@wrtcleather.com www.wrtcleather.com The beautiful sheaths created for storing the knife elevate the knife one step higher. Well there you go Clay, just like the Wafflehouse.....scatterd, covered and smothered!
Hey Paul, don't look for me back in the back. I've moved up to the 5th row (they kicked me out of the rowdy section). __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

I learnt a lot thanks to the DVD from Chuck and Paul. As Chuck said both have different approaches to do leather sheaths. I take some lessons from Chuck and others from Paul.
Chuck is so clear with inlays in small sheaths sewing by hand and Paul show an excellent way for doing the job with large blades and really good tips. Chuck shows clearly a work of carving and tooling. Certainly these DVD's from both are complimentaries. Don't miss them! |

What I like about those DVDs is that things are explained very simply and thoroughly, so that you can understand everything going on. The simple stuff is covered, but so are the fine points that make things look professional. No matter what level you're at, you'll get something useful from those DVDs.
