Or one could just get books like Wayne Goddard's, Loveless & Barney's, or Dr. Jim's (in electronic form, for those not accustom to handling paper). It's all been written down, many many times.
The forums are a better place for interaction with information, but as Ray pointed out, not all that long term durable. Does serve a very fine purpose though.

That's how I got started after I learned other people were doing this too, Wayne Goddard's $50 knife shop was the first piece of outside help that I received.

Ive got a few books on the subject and even if I dont do everything the book tells me to , I read it over and over just to absorb more knife ideas so my brain can sythesize the info and come up with something new without me even being really aware that I was trying to.
