Knife handel help
I am considering buying my first kit, but I have a question before I start. If I choose to put an exotic wood on a fixed blade kit. I realize that it must be sanded, glued and pinned, but is there anything that I will need to put on the wood once I'm finished attaching the scales to the blade to give it a good finished look or should I just sand it very well???
Thanks, Danny |

It depend a whole lot on what you are going to put on the knife. If you are using a stabilized wood, which I would highly recommend, then all you need to do is sand it in successively finer grits, I would suggest, 120, 220, 400, 800, 1200 and then buff. If you are using non stabilized wood then the sanding is still good but you may need to add a final coating of something. That would depend on the wood. Hope that helps.
