My research indicated that CPM154 was just 154CM blown through an aresol nozel while liquid, allowed to cool to a plastic state while falling into a pile of very fine steel pellets (still above forge welding temps), then pressed into a billet, thus homogenizing the blend.
I heat treat CPM154 in accordance with a 154CM/ATS-34 recipe. If they are chemically different these days, then I am in error. __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |
