Hello from Missouri

Hello all,
New to the forum, looking forward to learning from everyone. Just getting started, planning on getting some blanks and making handles at first. Then will move on to stock removal and forging. Where are good places to buy from?
Thanks
Jeff

Jantz has unfinished blades and kits. USA Knife Maker Supply also stocks some unfinished blades.

Notla, welcome to the world of knife making! Be careful, think about what you're doing....you may be walking into something you can't walk away from! It may consume your life, hijack your dreams, etc. Or it may just cut into your TV watching time a little. Either way Jantz is one of many good suppliers available. I have had good luck with them.

Hello Jeff, welcome to the forum! I am not too far away in Kansas City. I really recommend you do the Sunday night chat with a bunch of good people on Ray Rodgers chat (link in newbies section).

I would also tell you one of the best things you can do this year is to take the time and go to the Heartland Symposium Hammer-In (ABS sponsored) in Topeka, KS this October 4-5. Incredible amount of learning forging, grinding, heat treat, finish work, by some of the best in the world. I think there were 7 Master Smiths there last fall. Many guys out of Missouri go to it. Great atmosphere, great people, all levels, nothing intimidating. You will learn more in 2 days than years learning on your own or the internet.

As to your question, I have bought from Jantz and also like USA Knifemakers. For some nice blanks at cheap prices I have seen them at Crazy Cow http://www.crazycrow.com/knife-making-supply

Good luck and try out that chat tomorrow.
