what would you like to see in a kit?
i have just finnished my first kit and im looking to start a new one. i was looking at the lengths of the curent folders and i was realy looking for something bigger. i see that the new DDr3 will be biger than the other liner lock kits. i will be ordering when it comes out. but i still like a biger folder for my edc. im planing on doing a DDr1 next. but i would like to build some thing with a 4 inch blade. what do you guys think is there a market for that? or am i the only one ?
i will eventualy build a typhoon but not till i get better. i would also love to build an "axis" "ultra lock" type folder. or even an auto kit!! i know im jumping way ahead of my self.....justin |

I don't think I'll ever see it for obvious reasons, but I'd love to see a kit form of the 4 - 4.5" spear point Mad Maxx framelock. That would be truly great as it's one of the top two knives I've lusted after for the last few years now.

Some things I'd like to see.. (wish list)
option for damascus blade pre-cut "blanks" which can be ground (by beginers) and maybe include (pre-paid) heat treating service for the blade once it's done. How about a phamphlet of printed forum threads on "what to look at" before you start. (Some kit makers are still getting the hang of the internet..) When you buy a knife, you get a life time membership to the Darrel Ralph fan club (just kidding..) __________________ Custom Knife Creations |

I was thinking of a "big" Daddy Barlow with a swing guard, pocket clip and a liner lock. Something around 10" open.

Um Hum
Nice ideas. The DDR3 is a bigger knife that is built with heavier liners. It is also wider. I think it will fit the bill for what you are looking for. DB, We will have pre hardened blade blanks avaiable for these kits also. You can grind them yourself and they will be hard after your grind saving you a heat treat operation. As for a convertible UM HUM someday your dream may come true. DDR FAN CLUB Last edited by Darrel Ralph; 08-21-2003 at 07:35 PM. |
