Well I messed that up

So a couple months ago I started a stub tang knife. I got the blade finished last weekend and was ready to stamp and send off for HT. (It's D2) Problem...Cant find my stamp. Even worse, its in a tin that contains all of my leatherworking tools. I have torn this place apart looking for it.

So, I decided to try something different. I thought I would draw out the letters in my stamp with a fine point sharpy then stipple around the letters to "frame" them with stippling.

I broke Rule #1 and tried it on the actual knife first. I think you can figure out the rest from there.

I'm going to try to sand it out, but the dimples are pretty deep. Even worse, its near the guard and I know that by sanding it out, it will get thinner and the guard will be no good. This is the second guard so at least I have practice making them now.

This was more of an information post than anything to the newer makers. Use scrap steel for "bright ideas" first. LOL
