Newbie question on forming

Would it work to use one of those bags they advertise on t.v. that you hook your shop vac to and it compresses everything down tight for form fitting a sheath. I still have a hard time getting a tight form on my sheaths. I know those bags will get clothes down like they advertise so it seems like it would work unless the leather wouldn't dry.

That would seem to be a lot of overkill.

Let me ask a dumb question: Are you wetting the leather when you do your form fitting?

i wet form all my sheaths and then use my home-made vacum table until the leather starts to harden,,and will hold the shape on its own,,then i remove it,,clean the knife,,and let the sheath dry

I've gotten good results using foam rubber, wet the sheath and clamp it between.

Texas Jack,
I have been using a spray bottle to wet the leather but after seeing Rancid's post I realize I haven't been getting the leather wet enough.

There ya go! Take a look at some of Chuck Burrows' posts and you'll get some great pointers.
