Wootz detail/ I got a Nikon camera ....
I still need to fool around with the light, but here's a snapshot I took with my new Nikon digital camera. It will just get better and better now. |

Nice looking detail there Tai. What is the wavy line? The only Wootz blades I have seen so far look almost uniform. Roger |

That's the temper line. I shot the pic from the back. This wootz was just more random and interesting than any I've seen. The wootz itself is by Ric Furrer. |

Camera
It's a Nikon COOLPIX 885, 3.21 megapixel. I talked to Alex and he recomended 3.2 or higher. It seems to read the light more acurately than lower megapixel cameras. |

Re: Camera
Oh man, now I'm green with camera envy 0] That's great Tai! I'm glad you got yourself a good digital camera. Does that model take the short video clips like some of them do? That would be real handy for quick demo's at the forge. I'm about ready to trade my Sony off so maybe I'll look at that Coolpix model. First, I have to forge up about half a million neck knives though. He he. |

Re: Camera
Yes it will do video clips, haven't figured it out yet, but it will be great for tutorials. I've always sworn by Nikon. I think it's the best optical company. All megapixels are not created equal. |

Re: Camera
It has some other important features like digital and optical zoom, plus a macro mode that will focus as close as 1.6 inches from the subject. |
