Damascus Bolster Question

As some of you know, I make alot of friction folders. The majority are traditional one piece stag handles.I have also done some two piece and some with wood bolsters and no liners.
I trying to do one with copper liners, Damascus bolsters and Ironwood.I know, not exactly traditional. My problem is how do I attach the bolster to the liner without using exposed screws? I have thought about using flathead screws from the liner side but not sure how feasible that will be.Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Dave

Dave,

Screws from the inside isn't a bad idea. I've done it a few times on locking folders when I didn't want them showing. If you want or need to be able to take the knife apart, and if you are using one exposed pivot screw, you can use that pivot to keep the bolsters in place and an internal dowel pin to keep the bolster from rotating. You could also locate the bolsters to the liners with a couple of small dowel pins and solder them together. You need to solder after you etch the damascus, so you run the risk of making a mess with the solder. Lastly, you might consider some type of adhesive. Something like Locktite Speed Bonder might work for you.
