Blade Show stories.....

1. Lost my hat at the airport! I set it down to get my luggage off the baggage thingy. Got my bags, turned around to get the had and my carry on....the hat's gone. Somewhere in Atlanta someone has a hat with my name in the headband! Sorry sucker!

2. More knife makers and people than you could shake a stick at! With the show being expanded, it was quite the spectacle. I don't think there was any earthly way a person could see all of it in three days.

3. ABS MS judging: I actually thought the MS judging gig was much easier than the judging the JS folks. With the JS there was always a lot of agonizing over things, and a lot of tough decisions. Not so with the MS. Either the knives where right, or they weren't.

4. Super good food at the ABS banquet. I hate to say it, but the piece of beef I had was one of the best I have every hate outside of the ranch rasied beef I normally eat.

5. The pit, as always, was cram packed. Lots of good conversations and fellowship. I didn't stay too long, as the smoke was so bad it just tore me up.

6. Mary Lutz: What a wonderful lady! For as much responsibility as she has, and as many people as she deals with at the show, she always has a smile on her face, and a kind word on her lips. They don't get much better than her!

7. The "trends": It seemed like carbon steel (forged) bowies were the hot ticket. Last year when the show opened I had a dozen people fighting over the single folder I took. This year I took three high end folders, and came home with all of them. Once again, it just goes to show that you can never "call it."

That's about all I can think of right now......I'm sure there's lots more that others can chime in with.
