This one I cut out with a angle grinder, and shaped it with the bench grinder but I did use the new grinder to shape the scales.

Looks good Kevster. One thing you may try. After I have drilled the holes for the scales, I line them up back to back(not on the blade), put the pins in and shape the distal end with them pinned together. Makes it easier to get them exactly the same on both sides.

That's good advice, I did put the scales together to get the curve but I didn't pin them, I can see they aren't even. I will give it a try on my next one.

Very nice vine work, 440 is a very interesting first metal choice, why did you not attempt a 1080 or so?

Very nice Im curious I looked at some palm. did you chose to run the grain that way? or was it the way it was in your piece

That's how it came, it really just looks like a bunch of dots on the scales side.
