Orlando?
Who's going to Orlando? Dogman for sure... Drop by and see me, or give me your table no. and I'll try to come and see you. Some of you I've never met and it'd be great to see you.
Should be a great show. Hopefully, the knife sales will be as hot as the weather in Orlando in July! Just a note, stolen from a post of mine on the KMG Forum: The bus from the Orlando airport to the Mariott World Center takes a lot longer than the taxi, I believe. Anyway, the taxi seems to be worth the extra cost in time saved. And..... up to 5 people can share a cab, so that really makes it a viable alternative. That's assuming that you can all get your bags in the back! I've done this many times; there is usually another maker, or two, waiting there at the gate with you. (Did the Guild send us a coupon for the bus?) Mears shuttle is $16 one way and $28 round trip. You keep one ticket for the return. A taxi is "...$41-43 approximately." (That'd be 1-way.) Got these figures straight from the horses' mouths. I called them. So, to make it break kinda even, you'd have to share a taxi going back to the airport, too. Just something to think about, if you haven't attended the Orlando show before. Thanks, Dave. Always fun to get to Fla. and get re-hydrated, not to mention seeing old friends and meeting new ones - and sampling every piece of Key Lime pie that I get the chance to. Looking forward to meeting you in person.

The show went well. We were a bit hidden in the back recesses of teh hotel and more signs could have helped, but a lot of makers did well. We'll be working on that kind of stuff for next year. As with any show, a lot didn't do so well. I definately believe that the show has to re-build after our absence, when we went to 'Vegas and New Orleans. There are still those who thnk a move is good, guess time will tell as to what the show ends up doing in the long run.
The crowds seemed down and many foreign collectors were not there. Whether it was 911 or the economy or both, or other factors, I don't know. The weather was excellent and one could even go outside without melting. Tne nights were perfect. __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift |
